Getting started with AE Recruitment

At AE Recruitment we want to position job seekers to our clients so that they stand out from all the other applications hiring managers receive. For us, it's not about just getting your CV and Portfolio sent out, we have to make sure you are suitable for the position and that your materials contain the right information to first of all, appeal to the reader/hiring manager.

We encourage job seekers to add as much information in their CVs and Portfolios as they can, so that both our recruitment team and hiring managers understand what you do on a day-to-day basis. So, please keep an eye on your email provider for updates along the way. Hopefully our guide below will give you some insights that you can work on straight away.

Feedback guide

The AE Recruitment team will notify you via email with guides of how to update your details so please keep an eye out.

CV guide

A well laid out CV, containing the right information is the first place to start!

Start with a summary of your expertise and what you can offer a future employer. Then list your educational background and ALL the computer software you can use.

Please make sure to include every employer you have worked for starting with your most recent employment, as that will be the most relevant to a hiring manager. Underneath each employer go into detail about the projects you've worked on, your duties and responsibilities. Be sure to include of the sector the project, size, value and height as this can be valuable information for the hiring manager if he/she isn't familiar with the project itself.

Avoid a "busy" CV, make good use of whitespace as it makes it much easier to read and digest. Also, avoid a 1 or 2 page CV as there's no way you'll be able to include enough information for a hiring manager to make an assessment on your suitability for their vacancy.

Portfolio guide

When assessing your suitability for the jobs you apply to on the AE Recruitment site our Recruitment Consultants will send you a portfolio guide if they can't see enough information so be sure to keep an eye on your email account for updates.

Hiring managers often comment saying, "there's too many renders and not enough detail about what else they do", so avoid a portfolio only containing 3D renders as it can mislead the reader into thinking that's all you produce.

Once you have created your portfolio create a URL link so you're able to send a large file within your application. Please click Google or Microsoft to be directed to the respected sites to follow their advice on creating sharable URL links:

After you have created your shareable URL link navigate back to our candidate portal and upload in "My Portfolio"

Interview guide

Every interview is different depending on the company and hiring manager conducting the interview so AE Recruitment will call you to run through the company, what they're looking for and tips on how to go about preparing for your interview. We also provide documentation of questions to ask and prepare for, as well as all the details for you to conduct your research ahead of your big day!

After the interview one of the AE Recruitment team will be in touch for an interview debrief on how your interview went and the next steps.

Job search support

AE Recruitment will advise you on how to improve your materials in order to be selected for an interview including CV and Portfolio guides and templates, we shall then provide feedback where possible so you are well informed of how your application is progressing.
